Occupational Therapy Assistant

Program Details

A cohort of 24 students is admitted to each class in fall term. Here’s what to expect.

Classroom

Traditional students attend labs on the LBCC’s Healthcare Occupations Center (HOC) in Lebanon while distance-education students attend labs at partner community colleges or other sites in their geographic area. Additionally, all students are required to come to the HOC to attend one- or two-day exams and other learning activities up to 2–3 times per term. Students are responsible for all associated travel costs.

Laboratory

Traditional students attend labs on the LBCC campus while distance-education students attend labs at partner community colleges or other sites in their geographic area. Additionally, all students come to the LBCC campus for one-day or two-day visits up to three times per term.

Fieldwork

Fieldwork experiences are completed at various practice settings throughout the Pacific Northwest. Fieldwork placement is determined by the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and is dependent upon availability of fieldwork sites and educators. Students will be required to relocate for fieldwork assignments and are responsible for the cost of temporary relocation.

Distance Learning

The Occupational Therapy Assistant program at LBCC is not a true distance program and cannot accommodate students outside of our service area (which includes LBCC and our partner community colleges) at this time.

Because of the requirement to come to campus in-person 2–3 times per term, as well as participate in full-time fieldwork experiences, students who are interested in the distance-education option will need to reside within our service area or be able to relocate to Oregon.
