Nursing Assistant

The Nursing Assistant program is an approved training course by the Oregon State Board of Nursing to prepare students to perform basic nursing and patient care. The curriculum consists of healthcare team collaboration, communication, cultural aspects, infection prevention, safety and emergency procedures, activities of daily living, mental health and social services needs, technical skills, observation and reporting, documentation, and end-of-life care.

Upon successful completion of this non-credit course, students will be prepared to apply for the Oregon State Board of Nursing certification exam for nursing assistant. The course is split into two sections:

First Section: Classroom
Students successfully completing the 41 hours of online learning and 28 hours of live skills lab participation as well as achieving a 75% or higher score on the final exam will progress to the second section: clinicals.
Costs: $882.57 lab fee and $10.00 badge fee.
Enrollment is restricted to ten students per class.

Second Section: Clinicals
Students who have completed the classroom requirements will be assigned to 40 hours of live clinicals in a long-term care facility approved by the Oregon State Board of Nursing. The clinical portion of this course is designed to give students practice in direct patient care while applying all of the technical skills and lecture material.
No additional costs.

LBCC’s Nursing Assistant program is committed to the success of our students. To achieve this goal, LBCC offers an additional four mandatory classroom skills review. In this review, students will practice their skills to prepare for the state certification exam.
