New Culinary Scholarships Available for LB Students
US Foods is partnering with Scholarship America and the American Culinary Federation (ACF) to bring its US Foods Scholars program to LBCC! This is an exciting opportunity for our students who plan to continue their education in the culinary arts.
Through this program, two LBCC students will be awarded scholarships totaling $20,000 each to cover culinary arts education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, and room and board.
If you are interested in applying or learning more about the program and eligibility, please visit US Foods Scholars Program or contact Chef Josh Green at greenj@linnbenton.edu.
Kitchen, Classroom, and Restaurant
The main kitchen is our lab. It has a commercially-licensed kitchen & bakery, hearth-fired oven, à la carte restaurant stations (pantry, grill, saucier), and butchering/charcuterie area. We supply food to the campus so, as a culinary arts student, you’ll feed hundreds of customers every day as part of your curriculum.
Located on the second floor of the Calapooia Center Building, the Commons is operated by second-year students in the LBCC Culinary Arts Program. This café-style of service was developed post-COVID to train students in all aspects of running a food service operation under realistic conditions. The menu is a collaboration of instructor-created items focusing on specific cooking skills and student creations to offer weekly and daily specials consisting of coffee, tea, pastries, desserts, made-to-order hot items, pizza, bread, soup, salads, and "grab & go" choices.
Finally, our state-of-the-art Culinary classroom and demonstration kitchen hosts culinary arts classes and evening cooking classes for the community. This room has several cameras and three large flat-screen televisions so students and instructors can interact during lectures and demonstrations.
