Event Specific Plans
Please select the specific plans below:
- Active Shooter/Weapons incident - Quickly determine the most reasonable way to protect your own life. Remember that students and visitors are likely to follow the lead of faculty and staff during an active shooter situation.
- Bodily Fluid Spill - Exposure to bodily fluids could cause infection with HIV, Hepatitis B, or other dangerous diseases. Every caution should be taken to minimize the chance and effects of exposure.
- Bomb Threat - Action steps for staff when receiving a bomb threat.
- Crime in Progress - Be alert to crime, suspicious situations, persons, or loud noises and quickly report them to Public Safety. THINK SAFETY, PROTECT YOURSELF AND OTHERS.
- Earthquake - Actions for all College Staff and public
- Evacuation Protocols - When the alarm sounds - evacuation action to be taken.
- Fire - Fire spreads rapidly, smoke does more harm to people than flame; it reduces visibility - DO NOT WAIT - ACT QUICKLY!
- Hazardous Materials Incident - All chemical and biological materials stored and handled on campus normally pose no extreme threat to the college community. However, during times of natural or man made disasters, these materials become a very special concern to the college community, as well as to the emergency personnel who may be responding to an affected area.
- Shelter-in-Place - Hazardous materials are all around us at home and school. Preparedness is the key to surviving any emergency, especially a hazardous materials accident. Toxic releases can come without a warning and allow only minutes to respond.
- Inclement Weather - In the case of bad weather, LBCC administration will make decisions about campus closures or delayed opening and communicate the information via various channels.
- Lockdown - In the case of a known perpetrator in the area and no safe path to escape, locking down is a good option.
- Medical Emergency - Protect people from further harm and get medical help fast: diabetic, cardiac, epileptic and respiratory emergencies are most common.
- Motor Vehicle Accident - Due to the high volume of traffic on the roads surrounding LBCC, an MVA is highly probable over the span of 5-to-10 years.
- Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan - LBCC developed this Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan in an effort to prepare for the long term effects resulting from natural hazards. With careful planning and collaboration, it is possible to create a resilient campus that will benefit from long-term recovery planning efforts.
- Utility Failure - Protocols for response to an event of utility failure.
- Violent Person Incident - Angry and confused clients, students, and staff are possible
